Disability-Related Accommodations Statement

Disability-Related Accommodations

In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), ABAC is committed to providing reasonable accommodations to students with documented disabilities. Disabilities may include ADD or AD/HD, autism spectrum disorders, brain injuries, chronic medical conditions, communication disorders, hearing impairment, learning disabilities, mobility impairment, psychological disorders, and visual impairment. The purpose of an accommodation is to provide equal access to the academic material and equal access to demonstrate mastery of the material. If you have a disability and need accommodations, please contact Counseling & Accommodation Services (CAS).

CAS on the Tifton campus is located on the third floor of Carlton, Suite 314, and can be reached by calling (229) 391-5135 or by emailing cas@abac.edu. Students on the Bainbridge site can contact the Disability Coordinator located in the Administration Building at 229-243-3021 or CAS for assistance. You will need to meet with the Accommodations Coordinator, who can help you gather documentation of your disability or refer you to an appropriate resource for assessment. Once documentation of the disability is approved, CAS staff will provide you with an accommodation letter detailing the approved accommodations you should present to your instructors to implement your accommodations. Disability accommodations can be approved and started at any point in the semester; however, accommodations are not retroactive and begin when the accommodation letter is presented to your instructors within a reasonable timeline.
