Generic Track Program Requirements

  • Open to qualified individuals who hold and maintain a degree and current licensure as a Practical Nurse, Paramedic, or Respiratory Therapist.

Milestones

  • Pre-licensure ASN/BSN nursing (NURS) courses completed by students at other institutions do not transfer to ABAC.

  • Application Deadlines

    Tifton Campus ASN application deadlines: 

    • October 1:  Spring admission

    • July 1: Fall admission

    ABAC-Bainbridge ASN application deadlines:

    • July 1:  Fall admission

  • A student must achieve a minimum grade of C in all core courses applicable to the nursing program.

  • Early spring semester, apply to the nursing program and register to take the HESI A2 late in Spring term or Summer term. Many students opt to take the HESI A2 after completing course and course/course. Students do not have to complete the HESI A2 prior to applying to the program.

  • Maintain a minimum overall and nursing GPA of 2.5. Students who do not meet the 2.5 GPA minimum should meet with their advisor.

  • Students must complete the following courses prior to acceptance into the program: ENGL 1101, ENGL 1102, POLS 1101, BIOL 2011, BIOL 2011L, BIOL 2012, BIOL 2012L, and PNUR 1104.  These courses are used to calculate a prioritization GPA for ranking students when more students meet minimum requirements than can be accepted into the program.

  • BIOL 2050/2050L must be completed prior to taking NURS 2207 and NURS 2208.

  • A student is required to complete certain requirements to attend clinical in health care agencies while enrolled in the program. These requirements are due upon acceptance and include cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification via the American Heart Association, various immunizations/vaccines, a criminal background check, and drug screening. Students will receive details related to these requirements upon application to the program.

 Milestones

  • Following the first semester of the nursing program, students must successfully complete the Pharmacology Validation Examination at the beginning of each semester.

  • Students must a comprehensive exit exam to graduate from the program.

  • Abraham Baldwin Agriculture College’s Associate of Science in Nursing program is approved by the Georgia State Board of Nursing and meets the necessary requirements for taking the NCLEX-RN exam and obtaining licensure in the state of Georgia as a Professional Registered Nurse.
